About Rita Lee
Rita Lee's work is an accumulation of studying the oldest subject of visual art, the human figure, as a woman of color during the rise of anti-establishment politics, increased racial and religious violence and marginalization, and a contempt for intersectional feminism. What does it mean to occupy the human body and make figure portraits in a time when every identity is being politicized?
What has it been like to work on Dear Woman House?
I am so happy with the work that went into this house and I dream of a second exhibition with the artists I have met through the Art Kettle where we collaborate in the house and get to spend more time together talking about our work, how we make it, how we want it to be seen.
