THE OUTSIDE

EXPLORING THEMES OF DESTINY
AND EPHEMERALITY

Domestic elements that present and protect girls’ appearance are used as mediums to comment on familiar hopes for the future in contrast with sobering realities of daily life. Simultaneously shaping and being shaped by the ever-fluctuating conditions of the outdoors, these pieces address the mercurial nature of identity in social spaces. Both pieces have a sense of elevating the ordinary rhythms of life while referencing incremental transformation – growth, erosion and exposure of vulnerability.
